This tutorial will show you the process of migrating a printer and the Printer Administrator account to a new printer. A colleague of mine was tasked with upgrading a network that had Windows XP Pro from 2003 and had many printers. One of the large printing companies also purchased Windows XP Home after Microsoft stopped supporting it in 2014, requiring a complete migration.
This printer also has a parallel port connection, which requires lots of cables. The power supply is also inside the printer, so you will need two of these cables; one for the printer, and one for the PC.
Every time a printer is connected to the PC, the printer is named. If the PC is not connected to the network, the printer is named in the PC name. In the case of this PC, the printer will be named ‘Serpent M2060’.
With this printer, the printer name is used as the default printer name, so to migrate the printer and the Printer Administrator account to a new printer, this needs to be changed to the new name of the printer. d2c66b5586
